In a blow to the head that looked a lot worse, Celtics guard Jeff Green escaped with only chipped teeth and a bruise.
Boston Celtics guard Jeff Green suffered a left cheek bruise and some chipped teeth after being elbowed in the head by Milwaukee's Ersan Ilyasova during Boston's 99-94 overtime loss to the Bucks on Friday night.
The play happened with 27 seconds left in overtime and the Celtics down one. As a scrum of players fought for the rebound, Green caught the elbow under the basket, and was down for a considerable period of time before being helped off the court and into the locker room by medical personnel. Ilyasova apologized after the game, stating that it was not his intention to hurt Green on the play.
Green has a history of injury, missing the entire 2011 season after suffering an aortic aneurysm. Coming off that injury, Green received a controversial contract extension in the offseason, but has played in all 25 games for the Celtics this season, averaging 9.4 points and 3.0 rebounds.
