With so many games with huge playoff implications, here's a halftime update for teams that are hoping to keep their playoff teams alive.
What do NFL teams want for Christmas? A shot at the playoffs, of course, and many NFL teams are doing what needs to be done when it comes to keeping the dream alive.
If the Bengals win, they lock up a playoff spot and the Steelers are eliminated. If the Steelers win, both teams are technically still alive, but the Bengals would need a ridiculous amount of help to get in. The Bengals currently lead the Steelers by a score of 10-7 after the first half of play. The Bengals scored their only touchdown on a Leon Hall pick six while the Steelers only score came on a long bomb from Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown.
The Cowboys have surged in the second half of the season to keep their playoff hopes alive, winning four of their last five. If they continue to win, they'll seal their position in the playoffs. The Saints aren't technically eliminated from post-season play, but they are likely going to just be playing the spoiler role for the rest of the season. The Cowboys and the Saints are tied at 14-14 at halftime. Drew Brees has thrown one touchdown pass to Lance Moore and the other touchdown was scored on the ground by Mark Ingram. Tony Romo has tossed two touchdown passes, both to Dez Bryant.
While the Eagles have been eliminated from post-season play, the Redskins are in charge of their own destiny. If they win out, they'll win the NFC East. They're riding a five-game winning streak while the Eagles have lost four of their last five. The Redskins lead the Eagles by a score of 13-10 at halftime. Robert Griffin III has thrown the team's lone touchdown to Joshua Morgan while place kicker Kai Forbath has given the team the rest of their points. The Eagles scored on a touchdown pass from Nick Foles to Jeremy Maclin.
Vikings vs. Texans:
The Texans have locked their post-season berth by winning the AFC South but the Minnesota Vikings are still very much alive in the wildcard hunt in the NFC. At halftime, they're taking care of business by leading the Texans by a score of 13-3. Christian Ponder has thrown the only games touchdown pass to tight end Kyle Rudolph. If the Vikings win they will tighten their grasp on the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
