After a week off, the N.C. State Wolfpack looked well-rested and ready for ACC play on Saturday, with a dominating 84-66 victory over Western Michigan. The Wolfpack improved to 9-2 this season with the win.
The No. 23 ranked N.C. State Wolfpack returned to the court after a week off Saturday, and looked like the elite team everyone expected in the preseason. NC State dominated Western Michigan from start to finish in an 84-66 victory in Raleigh.
The Wolfpack got a balanced effort in the win, with five players scoring in double-figures. Junior C.J. Leslie led N.C. State with 19 points and seven rebounds, while senior bruiser Richard Howell added 18 points and nine rebounds as well. Scott Wood had 11 points and point guard Lorenzo Brown added 10, while T.J. Warren chipped in 15 points off the bench for NC State, which improved to 9-2 on the season.
In addition, the game seemed to be a step in the right direction for the Wolfpack, a team that was picked as the preseason ACC conference champion. NC.. State will play UNC-Greensboro on Christmas Eve, before opening conference play at Boston College next Saturday.
Nate Hutcheson scored 16 points in a losing effort for Western Michigan, which fell to 8-4 on the season.
