The Houston Texans moved to 11-1 on the season with a solid victory over the Titans on Sunday.
The Houston Texans just kept rolling on Sunday, moving up to 11-1 on the season after a 24-10 dismantling of the Tennessee Titans on the road. The Texans secured a playoff berth with the victory, the second trip to the playoffs for Houston the past two years.
Houston moved methodically throughout the game, as the defense forced six turnovers in the game and J.J. Watt became the first player in NFL history with at least 15 sacks and 15 passes defensed in the same season. Matt Schaub passed for two touchdowns, as the only mistakes the Texans really made came in the form of eleven penalties in the game.
TexansDC of Battle Red Blog praises the depth of the team and the "Backup Bulls On Parade" that exemplify what has made Houston so consistent this season:
Fifth cornerback Brandon Harris, ye of the inactive list, had a team-leading six tackles and two passes defensed. Sixth cornerback Roc Carmichael BAPped his way to a pass defensed and five tackles. Recent street free agent Barrett Ruud had five tackles and a sack, backup Tim Dobbins had an interception and fumble recovery, backup Earl Mitchell tipped a pass at the line, and rookie backup Whitney Mercilus had two sacks and a fumble recovery in his first start.
The Texans have the No. 2 rushing defense in the NFL under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and are headed to a much-anticipated Monday night showdown against New England next week.
