Although the New York Giants won't make the postseason in 2012, they ended their season with a bang on Sunday crushing the Philadelphia Eagles 42-7. The Giants were later eliminated from the playoff picture when Chicago beat Detroit.
The New York Giants won't be going to the playoffs in 2012, but that didn't stop them from putting up one of their best performances of the NFL season in Week 17, crushing the Philadelphia Eagles 42-7 in New York. But even with the win , the Giants were eliminated from the NFC playoff picture when Chicago beat Detroit Sunday afternoon.
For New York, the scoring started early, when Eli Manning hit Rueben Randle for a touchdown pass less than five minutes into the opening quarter and from there the game was rarely in doubt. New York scored 35 first half points, before cruising to victory.
Winners:
Eli Manning was the star of the show Sunday, throwing five touchdown passes in the Giants season finale. Two went to Randle, with one each to wide receiver Victor Cruz, running back David Wilson and a fourth quarter score to Henry Hynoski.
Losers:
The answer here is Eagles head coach Andy Reid, who not only finished up a disappointing 2013 campaign at 4-12 overall, but could be fired on Monday according to reports.
If Reid is let go, it'll cap a 14-year run with the organization which saw him make nine playoff appearances, five NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl with the Eagles.
Reactions/tweets/comments from fans/media
The best reactions undoubtedly came in regards to Reid's future in Philadelphia and as you may have guessed, most fans and media members didn't have the nicest things to say about the veteran coach.
Here's a sample of what was said:
At least Andy Reid is making sure his successor gets a high draft pick. Good guy.

First game of Andy Reid's tenure: Eagles blew 21-0 lead, lost 25-24. Final game of Andy Reid's tenure: Eagles trailing 42-7. Fitting.

Fox Sports just pulled the NYGvsPHI game. Congrats Andy Reid...you disappointed an entire television network.

Video:
Henry Hynoski definitely had a bit of fun after scoring his first touchdown of the year.
Best stat of the night:
Goes to Manning, whose five touchdown passes matched his total from the previous three games combined. It was the first time during the entire 2012 season that the two-time Super Bowl MVP tossed for five touchdown scores.
Worst stat:
No one stat jumps out, but like Reid, Michael Vick ended a disappointing season (and potentially career in Philadelphia) with an uninspired performance Sunday in New York. Vick finished with just 19 completions on 35 throws and a meager 197 yards, before he was eventually replaced by Trent Edwards late in the fourth quarter.
Fantasy Studs/Duds:
Beyond Manning, it was a good day to have Reuben Randle who finished the afternoon with 58 yards and two touchdown catches. Meanwhile, Bradshaw had 41 yards receiving on one catch, in addition to the 107 yards and touchdown score on the ground.
Odds/Gambling:
The Giants were a 9.5 point favorite entering Sunday, easily covering the spread.
What's Next:
