One of the best seasons in Vanderbilt history comes to a close with a win in the Music City Bowl.
Vanderbilt earned its ninth win of the 2012 season - a record not matched in the woeful Commodore history books since 1915 - by winning the turnover battle against lame duck N.C. State, 5-0, cruising to a 38-24 win in the 2012 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
Jordan Rodgers was 16 of 25 for only 106 yards, but threw for 2 TDs and ran for another. N.C. State's senior quarterback Mike Glennon was either red hot or abysmal, passing or 383 yards and one TD, but throwing three interceptions in his final college game.
Vandy took a 28-14 halftime lead after scoring on their opening drive on a one-handed catch from receiver Chris Boyd and then using four first half turnovers from NC State to score their next three touchdowns. They'd settle for two field goals through the third and the start of the fourth quarters, but NC State's inability to hold possession and an increasingly one-dimensional offense kept the Wolfpack at least two scores behind for almost three full quarters. NC State outgained Vandy 424-225
Commodores senior running back Zac Stacy finished with 107 yards rushing on 25 carries for one TD.
