We continue our look back at the history of the rivalry between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez with this video of their third meeting. The third fight happened at a catchweight of 144 pounds in 2011.
Coming into the fight many fans and media members thought that Marquez was in a world of trouble. The last time Marquez had moved up to welterweight, he had looked soft, slow and ineffective against Floyd Mayweather. Meanwhile, Pacquiao had gone up in weight and beat big men like Antonio Margarito.
Instead, Marquez looked much better physically, seemed quick and was able to fight his style of fight beautifully. He was able to do enough to earn the decision in the eyes of many, but the only scorecards that matter are those of the three official judges and they saw the fight 115-113, 114-114 and 116-112, giving Pacquiao the majority decision win.
BoxRec tracked unofficial scorecards from boxing media, fighters and personalities for the fight and has 57 scoring the fight for Marquez, 51 for Pacquiao and 36 seeing the fight a draw.
The two fighters will meet a fourth time tonight, live on HBO pay-per-view.
