Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown passed away Saturday.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown has passed away. Brown, a former defensive lineman at Illinois, was on the Cowboys practice squad this season. Current Fighting Illini head coach Tim Beckman tweeted the news of Brown's passing:

Former Illinois star wideout and current Buccaneer Arrelious Benn also tweeted about the passing of his former teammate:
Prayers go out to the family of my former classmate, teammate Former Illini Jerry Brown RIP #illini

Shortly after the news of Brown's death spread, reports emerged that he was killed in an accident involving teammate Josh Brent, who was driving a car involved in the accident that killed Brown. Brent has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
Brown, a St. Louis native, was an undrafted free agent and bounced around the league. He did play in one game with the Colts this season in Week 6, before moving on to the Cowboys practice squad.
