Drag racing, especially at the highest levels, is insane. We're not talking about taking a regular street car to the track for Friday night fun. No, the drivers who strap themselves into a top fuel, funny car or alcohol dragster have to have a little bit of crazy in them.
Mike Austin's crash on Saturday is a reminder of just how quickly things can turn. Racing at Pomona in an NHRA event, Austin's top alcohol dragster took flight. It lifted off the ground, flew over a wall and flipped over before landing on the ground, twisting and spinning along the way.
If the photo doesn't quite do it for you, there's video of the crash after the jump.
There's good news in all of this, though. After a few anxious moments as rescuers rushed to his car and attempted to free him, Austin got up and walked away. Considering the crash, it's absolutely amazing.

You only live once
Everyone should see a top fuel dragster go past them at least once in their life
