Peyton Manning To Miami Dolphins Chatter Continues

With each passing day it looks more and more like Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are headed for a divorce which means Manning would become what would likely be the most sought after free agent in NFL history. Manning, if he's healthy, can instantly transform a team into a Super Bowl contender.

About half the league should be interested in Manning and one of those teams is the Miami Dolphins. There's already chatter picking up in South Florida that the Dolphins need to acquire Manning. The Miami Herald spoke to a source close to Manning who is fueling the flames:

"His wife is also a big fan of the area," the source told me. "He likes the area. He likes the vibe of the area more than you might think. They own a condo down here. And no other team that could be trying to sign him will be able to say that."

If you look at potential destinations for Manning, you have to put the Dolphins near the top. They don't have their future quarterback on the roster right now and the owner, Stephen Ross, wants to make a splash. If there's any team in the league that understands the value of a good quarterback, it's the franchise that's been trying to replace Dan Marino for well over a decade.

I have a feeling we'll be writing a few more stories like this -- that Manning makes perfect sense in a particular city. Because, the truth is, Manning makes sense for about half the league.

I hadn't even thought about the Dolphins

My two best guesses have been the Redskins and Jets all along. But Dolphins would make a ton of sense. And ESPN would go crazy because it would mean Brady vs. Manning twice a year.
