Pats fan here. Congrats to the Giants, and now onto 2012 like nothing happened two days ago.
Anyways, you all are correct that the Pats hold the 27th overall and 31st overall picks in the 1st round. But please, take it from a Pat's fan; the Pats won't use both of those picks. One of them, most likely the 31st overall pick, is going to be traded to another team. I can probably pick the exact position that's going to be picked up, but that's not the point; the Pats know they can get some team to trade their 2013 1st rounder for the 31st overall. There's always a team willing to do it, knowing if they don't they'll probably lose their chance at a player they want that's a value at the pick. The Pats will try to get a lower-round 2012 pick as well, but as it pertains to 1st round picks, let's just stop pretending like the Pats will actually pull the trigger with the 31st overall pick. Unless an incredible talent has fallen that far I just don't see it happening.
Behind the Pats are the New York Giants, the Indianapolous Colts, and the St. Louis Rams. The Giants lost their top-2 TEs Sunday night to torn ACLs and the Giants will likely consider restocking that position. In Indy, the regime-change continues with Dallas Clark likely to leave and the Colts likely to find themselves in need of a TE. I could picture the Rams going for one if available, too.
How many teams are going to want that 31st pick before the Giants and Colts to secure the best TE in the draft?
