BRISTOL, Tenn. - Travis Pastrana has just about done it all. He's driven Rally, Motocross, Supercross and monster trucks. After having success in just about everything he's driven, Pastrana will next try to master NASCAR. Pastrana will make his fifth career K&N series race and first race at Bristol Motorspeedway. Pastrana thinks he can succeed in NASCAR like he has in his other forms of motorsports.
"My goal is to one day, when I come to a NASCAR track for someone to not say, ‘Oh, that's Travis, the guy that could ride motorcycles' but instead, "Hey the guy that could drive and we have to watch out for him today'", says Pastrana.
Pastrana also makes no bones about where he wants to race in 2012. "I really think that the Global RallyCross, I'm doing the whole series" Pastrana said. "We're funding a lot of the NASCAR races through the Global RallyCross. Boost, Samsung have been great, but until we get out there - we only have seven guaranteed races this year. I'm going to try to make that eight, night, 10, 14 - I want to race the rest of the season."
When asked at racing at Bristol Motorspeedway, Pastrana had a tough time hiding his emotions. "'Man, you've got to come to the night race at Bristol.' It was all I ever heard. Coming in and getting to see this place was really cool. The banks are so steep and I was just thinking that I was going to stick like glue. I came out and it felt like I was "Tokyo Drift" out there."
Hopefully Pastrana can make a splash in NASCAR like he has in everything else he's driven. He's one of the most polarizing drivers in the garage and brings a huge following that NASCAR could certainly use.
