The Padres outfielder has a torn meniscus and will miss four to six weeks.

Carlos Quentin, who was hoping for a strong year with the San Diego Padres this season after his acquisition from the Chicago White Sox, will have those plans put on hold for at least a few weeks. Bill Center:

The Padres have lost left fielder Carlos Quentin for four to six weeks due to a right knee injury that will be repaired by an arthroscopic procedure on Monday in San Diego.

Quentin, 29, has suffered some tearing to the meniscus in his right knee and will also have floating particles removed during the procedure to be performed by Dr. Heinz Hoenecke of Scripps Clinic.

Quentin is expected to miss at least the first two weeks of the regular season. It's unfortunate for the Padres outfielder, who manager Bud Black had hoped to hit cleanup this season. Quentin had been off to a good start in spring training, too, going 8-for-15 in six games with two doubles and a home run.
