The Jets more or less destroyed the Panthers in a 7-0 rout.

The final score from Winnipeg: New York (7), Carolina (0). Oh, wait. Wrong sport.

The Winnipeg Jets, however, did blitz the Florida Panthers in the third period with a five-goal onslaught en route to a 7-0 victory.

After scoring twice within the first six minutes, the Jets held onto their 2-0 lead entering the third period. Instead of playing conservatively, Winnipeg poured it on, scoring five goals, including four in the first eight minutes of the period. Evander Kane set a career-high with 46 points and extended a career-high point streak to eight games with a four-point performance.

The Jets moved into eighth place in the Eastern Conference and just two points behind the Panthers, but they have played three fewer games than the Panthers and the idle Washington Capitals. An eight-game homestand has Winnipeg sitting pretty at 4-1-2 so far, but will heading back on the unforgiving road bring the Jets back to Earth? Stay tuned.
