Round 1) Dont'a Hightower- ILB Alabama
No brainer if he is here. Need a new leader in the middle of the defense and fits the mold of James Farrior as a leader and player; often hear that he lacks in-line speed, but with a 4.6 and great conditioning program.. we can work with this. Honestly, it might be impossible to mock the Steelers draft sometimes due to BPA strategy, but I am going with Dont'a for now.
Round 2) Alameda Ta'amu, NT Washington State
Again, it will be BPA, but I believe Osemele and Zeitler will be off the board, thus leaving the Steelers the opportunity to fill Hampton's shoes. He has had a rapid decline and injured to start the season. Badly need someone to replace him because Steve McLendon is a DE at heart.
Round 3) Brandon Brooks, G, Miami of Ohio
Need badly some interior help with the loss of Chris Kemoeatu and the revolving door of Foster-Essex-Legursky at Guard. Stud prospect that was overlooked at the combine inviting. Could be a great prospect.
Round 4) Greg Childs, WR, Arkansas
The Steelers need a big receiver, period. Hines Ward wasn't a big receiver, but without a doubt played big. Steelers need to draft a 4th receiver especially with all of the uncertainty surrounding this season and next. Greg Childs was a big playmaker that has mild injury concerns, but will be good value.
Round 5) Nick Foles, QB, Arizona
Steelers need a back-up. Foles has all the tools to be a great backup, if not good starter in the league. He is a big guy, with a big arm that can make all the plays. With Charlie Batch turning 37, and Leftwich's health in question, Pittsburgh needs to look at Foles if available.
Round 6) Cliff Harris, CB/KR, Oregon
Willie Gay left in FA, this gives them a similar player. Not to mention with the emergence of Antonio Brown, the Steelers need to take him off return duty.
Round 7) Danny Hrapmann, K, Southern Miss
Suisham is mediocre at best. Being a Southern Miss alumni, I have watched Danny's progression. Though he had a decrease in production this season, he has had a pretty good career. He could put on some weight, but he has a big leg and can make the kicks.
Comp 7a) Cody Johnson, FB, Texas
Comp 7b) Drew Butler, P, Georgia
Comp 7c) Patrick Edwards, WR, Houston
