The Indianapolis Colts conducted a Wednesday press conference to officially announce the departure of Peyton Manning, who now becomes one of the most high-profile free agents of all time. This is a huge day for the rest of the NFL because quarterbacks of Manning's caliber rarely (if ever) become available in free agency.

Manning confirmed that he planned to play for someone in 2012, he's just not sure where. He was asked a few times about where he might play next season and he mostly side-stepped the question, choosing instead to reflect on his time in Indianapolis.
This town and this team mean so much to me. It truly has been an honor to play in Indiaanpols. I do love it here. I love the fans and I will always enjoy having played for such a great team. I will leave the Colts with nothing but good thoughts and gratitude for Jim, the organization, my teammates, the media and especially the fans.
I haven't thought yet about where I'll play but I have thought about a lot where I've been. I've truly been blessed. I've been blessed to play here and be in the NFL.
I got a feeling he's put at least some thought into where he'll play next.
Manning noted that he really isn't sure what the next step is for him because he's never been a free agent. But the rest of the league is ready and the bidding for Manning services starts now.
