Jed Lowrie Returning From Disabled List

Jed Lowrie is finished with his rehab assignment, and is set to make his Houston Astros debut on Friday.

For a while this offseason, it looked like the Houston Astros were going to have one of the most amazingly inept offenses in recent memory. But then they signed Chris Snyder to help Jason Castro with the catching duties. And that changed everything. But their biggest lineup move of the winter was their trade for Jed Lowrie, a promising, youngish player who couldn't stay healthy.

He didn't stay healthy for the Astros, either, injuring his thumb almost instantly. But after a short trip to the DL, he's back:

The soon-to-be 28-year-old went 3-for-6 in his two rehab appearances, all singles.

In Lowrie's place, the Astros have been using rookie Marwin Gonzalez, a 23-year-old switch-hitter who has started the season well (6-for-21), considering the organization just made him up.
