The Toyota Blue Grass Stakes are one of two major races in the last round of tune-ups for the Kentucky Derby, and the 2012 edition will be run today. In addition to $750,000 for the winner, the race is key for hopefuls for the race down the road in Louisville. Last year's winner, Brilliant Speed, ended up finishing in 7th at the Derby.
Saturday's race at the Keeneland Race Course in Lexington doesn't seem to have as much intrigue as one might hope: Hansen is more or less the runaway favorite to win the race, with his odds sitting at 6-5. So it's pretty much a toss-up between the 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner and the field. We'll see whether or not the horse lives up to the hype and brings home the victory.
