This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It's on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I'll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Austin Davis, Southern Mississippi
Height: 6'1, Weight: 221 pounds
Strengths: Davis is a tough quarterback who specializes on rolling out and making stick throws on the move. Has an excellent play action fake. Davis is at his best when he gets in a rhythm throwing the ball. Often throws his receivers open. Four-year starter.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t have the best arm, and will throw floating or wobbling deeper passes. Size may be an issue as Davis struggles at times to see over the line. Will get passes knocked down. Has an awkward throwing motion. Will need to learn how to read a defense. May be limited to a West Coast scheme. Missed part of sophomore season with a foot injury.
