2012 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 52

The SB Nation two-round NFL mock draft continues along with each lead NFL team blogger making the pick for their team. We continue the second round with the Tennessee Titans with the No. 52 pick.

With the 52nd pick in the SB Nation NFL writer's mock draft, the Tennessee Titans select Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry.

Jimmy from Music City Miracles checks in after the jump with his reasoning behind the pick and I respond. Make sure to check out MusicCityMiracles.com for the latest on the Titans.

Jimmy explains: The Titans pass rush last season was horrible. They did add Kamerion Wimbley in free agency, but they still need a lot more help. Curry is one of those high motor guys that can come in and be a pass rushing specialist from the day he steps on the field. They will eventually want him to do more, but they will be perfectly happy if he can just come in this season and create some havoc on passing downs.

The Titans’ front office would be thrilled to walk away with Dre Kirkpatrick in the first and Curry in the second. Kirkpatrick fills the hole left by Cortland Finnegan, and Curry gives them an instant threat to get after the quarterback.

Dan Kadar responds: This draft would be a dream scenario for the Titans. Many think the Titans should go with a defensive end in the first round, but landing a player like Curry here is both plausible and a great choice. The team can add offensive line help in later rounds. Curry would see playing time immediately and could become a factor faster than some other ends who have already come off the board.
