This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It's on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I'll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Jared Crick, Nebraska
Height: 6'4, Weight: 285 pounds
Strengths: Has optimum length for a defensive lineman and knows how to use it. A college tackle who may be best playing left defensive end in the NFL. His speed and quickness would be considered exemplary for a 3-4 end or 4-3 tackle. Give good effort.
Weaknesses: Crick has trouble anchoring in the run game and will get overpowered by bigger guards. Doesn't have great shedding ability. Solely a three-technique under tackle in a 4-3 system. Best season came when he lined up next to Ndamukong Suh. Injuries issues. Missed most of senior season with a torn pectoral muscle and spring practice in 2011 with a knee injury.
