This year I wrote the player rankings and evaluations for the USA Today 2012 NFL Draft magazine. It's on newsstands now and available online here. Leading up to the draft, I'll be reprinting some of my quick reports here.
Terrell Manning, North Carolina State
Height: 6'3, Weight: 233 pounds
Strengths: Manning plays fast and is a good athlete. He reads the ball carrier nicely and has the quickness to change direction and make a play. Displays good instincts when dropping into zone coverage. Has a tall frame to add more strength. Has the skills to become a good all-around linebacker. Led N.C. State with 12.5 tackles for loss in 2011.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t have the strength to consistently stack and shed at the line of scrimmage. Doesn't always take proper angles to running backs and will be slow to react. Plays too narrow. Manning was a surprise draft entrant who could have used another year to get stronger and become a better pass rusher. Had minor knee surgery following the 2011 season.
