Through seven innings, Humber has struck out six Mariners and retired three others on ground balls. Most of the other outs were on popups; with two out in the sixth inning, Musenori Kawasaki tried to bunt his way on base, but Humber picked up the ball and retired him. In the seventh, Chone Figgins struck out, Dustin Ackley popped up, and Ichiro Suzuki grounded to first base.
The White Sox lead the game 3-0, mostly thanks to first baseman Paul Konerko, who hit his second home run of the season in the second inning and drove in another run in the third. The game's other run so far was driven in by Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
Thanks to Fox's regionalization of games in the late-afternoon time slot on Saturdays, very few people are getting to see this game. Most of the country has the Red Sox and Yankees on their Fox-TV channel; the White Sox and Mariners are being seen only in northern and central Illinois, northern Indiana and the Pacific Northwest.
