FINAL Mock Draft - 3 rds (Things are getting very interesting)

If you like what you see - please REC - so i can continue to here feedback, and give responses allowing for a discussion among everyone on MTD

Will be responding and updating through out the day

Rumors are spreading, things are changing - whats going to happen? In this mock I have put together all the rumors i have been hearing around the NFL, my opinions, and loosely based on my consensus big board. Furthermore, I have not guessed any trades EXCEPT #31 bc the New England Patriots clearly said they will be trading that pick - and I have them trading with the Cleveland Browns. So Here We go. And mind you - I really believe this is the closest I can personally predict will happen on Thursday.

  1. Colts - Andrew Luck (QB) - Stanford

  2. Redskins - RG3 (QB) - Baylord

  3. Vikings - Morris Claiborne (CB) - LSU
Here is where things get weird. If I am the Vikings GM I take Kalil in a heart beat. Adam Schefter said he believes 20% the pick will be Matt Kalil. That leaves Blackmon and Claiborne. Looking at the division and given that Frazier has a defensive background - ill go with MC

  4. Cleveland Browns - Trent Richardson (RB) - Alabama
TR is the best player. WR can be had later. I don't need to explain further

  5. Buccaneers - Luke Kuechly (LB) - BC
Kalil is a possibility here - Bucs have a great OL. They have a huge need at LB. Luke is easily rated top 10 player in the draft. He will be a leader on a young, talented defense.

  6. Rams - Matt Kalil (OT) - USC
Fletcher Cox is the rumor here - but the Rams CANNOT pass up on protecting Sam Bradford. I should mock Cox here - but there are DT's to be had at the end of the 1st and beginning of 2nd.

  7. Jaguars - Stephen Gilmore (CB) - South Carolina
Jaguars love Gilmore, Gene Smith has a very specific type of player they want. WR class is deep. Blackmon has a few issues. Gilmore is the consensus #2 CB.

  8. Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill (QB) - Texas AM
    Won't explain

  9. Panthers - Fletcher Cox (DT) - Mississippi St.
Best DT falls to the Panthers.

  10. Bills - Justin Blackmon (WR) - Oklahoma St.
If Jaguars take Blackmon - Gilmore is the pick here - either way win win situation

  11. Chiefs - David DeCastro (G) - Stanford
Best G in the draft - and compared with Steve Hutchinson. Open holes for their RBs.

  12. Seahawks - Melvin Ingram (DE) - South Carolina
Fill their need w best DE in the draft

  13. Cardinals - Michael Floyd (WR) - Notre Dame
    Another weapon

  14. Cowboys - Mark Barron (SS) - Alabama
Cowboys love Barron, need secondary help.

  15. Eagles - Michael Brockers (DT) - LSU
Brockers is rated highly - falls to the Eagles. DE is also possible.

  16. Jets - Chandler Jones (DE/OLB) - Syracuse
I think Chandler Jones is the most talented and raw and biggest upside defensive lineman in the draft. He can be a 3-4 OLB, a 4-3 DE, or grow in and play 5 tech. He will be successful 2 yrs down the road. He is this years JPP.

  17. Bengals - Dre Kirkpatrick (CB) - Alabama
    CB help

  18. Chargers - Riley Reiff (OT) - Iowa
Still need depth at offensive line and talent

  19. Bears - Courtney Upshaw (DE) - Alabama
Upshaw I believe might be better suited for 4-3 DE as many people have said. HE is great work ethic and will fit nicely with what the Bears Defensive line does.

  20. Titans - Nick Perry (DE) - USC
Fast speed 4-3 DE to bring pressure to the line

  21. Bengals - Cordy Glenn (OT/OG) - Georgia
Need a guard - also BPA - also versatile to play OT.

  22. Browns - Kendall Wright (WR) - Baylor
Browns love Wright. Browns also need a WR.

  23. Lions - Jon Martin (OT) - Stanford
Finally a true LT to protect Stafford

  24. Steelers - Dontari Poe (NT) - Memphis
Learn behind Hampton - possibly become elite

  25. Broncos - Jerel Worthy (DT) - Michigan St.
This is a really tough pick for me. Before I put Coby Fleener. Than I wanted to change it to Alson. Then I was even thinking Janoris Jenkins. At the end of the day i went with a clean inside lineman. I still think the Broncos will get Manning more weapons. Jenkins makes sense to me because we saw what the Ravens did with Jimmy Smith. Jenkins is ultra athletic and needs the right environment to succeed.

  26. Texans - Stephen Hill (WR) - Georgia Tech
    No explanation.

  27. Patriots - Whitney Mercilus (DE/OLB) - Illinois
Patriots have a hybrid type defensive scheme. Mercilus can play with 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE.

  28. Packers - Shea McClellin (OLB) - Boise St.
Packers love Shea - and they also need a rush LB across from Matthews.

  29. Ravens - Donta Hightower (ILB) - Alabama
    Ray Lewis successor

  30. 49ers - Coby Fleener (TE) - Stanford
Haurbaugh is not done getting weapons for this offense. He knows Fleener inside out - having worked with him in Stanford. This is not a huge need - but this is the BPA and someone who can help in offense. We have seen the impact of ultra athletic TEs.

  31. Browns - TRADE w Patriots - Brandon Weedon (QB) - Oklahoma St.
Weedon can start right away - in my opinion. I think he is v. good and v. mature. Even if the Browns originally want McCoy to start - Weeden could push for the starting job.

  32. Giants - Quinton Coples (DT) - UNC
Giants fans always argue about the pick i give them. I gave the Giants an OT a few times. I love Bobby Massie, and Mike Adams. But Adams has off field issues. RB is the other thought - Doug Martin. But i learned that the GM will take the "BPA" and in this case it could be Coples. Coples has slipped bc of his work ethic and his film at times has been below average. But JPP and the rest of the team can bring out the best in him.

IF I had to predict a trade - the following situations come to mind:

  • The Jets trade up with the Jaguars, Panthers, or Bills for Melvin Ingram
  • The Chiefs bypass the Dolphins and trade up with the Jaguars for Ryan Tannhill
  • The Lions make a big trade to move up in the top 10 with the Panthers, Jaguars or Bills to draft Stephen Gilmore or Dre Kirkpatrick.
  • Let me make this abundantly clear - the Buffalo Bills WILL NOT MOVE UP - because I know a lot of people are predicting that - WILL NOT HAPPEN.
  • The Eagles moving up for some player they really like. Could be Fletcher Cox, Melvin Ingram, or Kueckly. Or they could bypass the Cowboys to take Mark Barron.
  • The Rams are sitting pretty with two high 2nd round picks. If they really like a player at the bottom of the 1st, they could trade the 2nd of their 2nd rounders and possibly a 3rd or 4th to move into the early part of the 1st to select that player. It could be a OT, WR, DT, or OLB.
  • The Colts have so many needs - I would not be surprised if they trade out of their 2nd round pick to acquire more picks.

ROUND 2 & 3 are based on my consensus big board and team needs. Picked player according to BPA and if the players around that area fill a need.
