The San Francisco 49ers have shaken things up at the end of the first round by selecting Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins with the No. 30 pick in the first round.
Few are surprised that the 49ers drafted a wide receiver in round one, but their choice may puzzle some folks. That being said, Jenkins is a playmaker and not a terrible reach in the first round.
A fluid route runner, Jenkins displays incredible hands and ability to make plays in traffic. His speed and strength are weapons of his, and he is versatile enough to play in the slot and on the boundary. Jenkins has a real chance of becoming a No. 2 receiver early in his NFL career.
Jenkins is the fourth receiver off the board thus far in the first round, a distinction most expected was reserved for Stephen Hill. But that's the nature of the business.
