Kentucky Derby hopeful Alpha drew the No. 1 post for Saturday's Wood Memorial at Aquedect Racetrack in New York.

Entries and post positions for Saturday's 2012 Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack in Jamaica, N.Y., were released on Wednesday, and Matt Gardner at And Down The Stretch They Come has all the details and insight on the race entries, including Kentucky Derby hopeful Alpha, which drew the No. 1 post position:

Alpha, winner of the Count Fleet and the G3-Withers, will attempt to complete a perfect spring in New York with his third victory at Aqueduct. Alpha finished 11th in last fall's Breeders' Cup Juvenile but has rebounded for a strong start to his three-year-old season.
