2012 Illinois Derby Results: Done Talking Wins Kentucky Derby Prep Race

Two well-backed horses canceled each other out at the 2012 Illinois Derby, allowing Done Talking (12/1) to take a surprise win. Morgan's Guerrilla (9/2) won the battle with Our Entourage (4/1), as both hooked up on the lead a half-mile in and wore each other down.

Done Talking is owned by Skeedattle Stable and trained by Hamilton Smith, and captured its first stakes win at the Illinois Derby. The colt was returning to the track from a listless 10th-place finish in the Gotham Stakes (GIII) at Aqueduct March 3, and hadn't seen the winner's circle since November of 2011 in a middling allowance race at Philadelphia Park.

Here are the official results:

  1. 13 Done Talking $27.20 / $10.80 / $6.60
  2. 12 Morgan's Guerrilla $5.80 / $4.40
  3. 2 Hakama $8.20
