The 2012 Indianapolis 500 is just over two weeks away and last year's runner up JR Hildebrand is trying to move on from his disappointing finish.
JR Hildebrand was seconds away from winning the 2011 Indianapolis 500, then he wasn't. Hildebrand was leading the race in the final lap before he crashed into the wall attempting to pass slower traffic on the final home stretch. He wound up sliding across the finish line just moments after Dan Wheldon passed him for the victory.
Now, with the 2012 Indianapolis 500 quickly approaching, Hildebrand is trying not to look back to last year's finish, via Sports Illustrated.
"With this, it's kind of like you don't have (a slower car) kind of situation come up in practice. You don't have that kind of thing happen besides when it maybe ends up happening during the race. I don't beat myself up because it's just not something that you really deal with."
The 2012 Indy 500 will take place May 27, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Practice will start on May 13 and run through May 17 before pole qualifying takes place on May 19.
