Somewhere in the background of the photo attached to this post is Mark DeRosa of the Washington Nationals.
He's happy! Why is he happy? Because his teammate Bryce Harper has just stolen home against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Unfortunately, DeRosa got a little bit too happy about this steal of home. Adam Kilgore:
Mark DeRosa’s progress returning from a strained left oblique muscle was stunted in an odd way, [manager Davey] Johnson said. As Bryce Harper came into the dugout Sunday night after he stole home against the Phillies, DeRosa aggravated his oblique when Harper gave him a forceful high-five.
"I don’t know if that set back the rehab or not," Johnson said. "But I said, ‘Why didn’t use your [right] hand?’ He said it was spur of the moment."
Obviously, that "forceful high-five" wasn't a good idea. DeRosa has been a walking disabled list ever since he suffered a wrist injury in 2009. He played in just 13 games this season for the Nationals, going 3-for-37, before getting hurt; at age 37 his career is likely nearly over.
