Chuck Neinas says the Big 12 has not had any discussions with Florida State about adding the Seminoles in an expansion move.
The Big 12 made news this week when they announced a new major bowl partnership with the SEC. Chuck Neinas, placeholder commissioner for Bob Bowlsby, has had a busy month, announcing what he termed a "landmark agreement" while also dealing with plenty of continued expansion rumors.
The realignment discussion heated back up after the new ACC television deal ruffled feathers at Florida State. Instantly, there was speculation that the Seminoles may look to move to the Big 12, looking for more television money and a better specified dedicated network. But according to Neinas, the Big 12 has not had discussions with Florida State. Via Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman:
And does he now expect Florida State, Clemson and others to come knocking on his Big 12 door, trying to come in?
"We did before," Neinas said, referring to interested parties in general. "Who? Maybe some old folks, maybe some new ones. Have we had any conversations with Florida State? No."
