Ryan Shannon, who played for the Tampa Bay Lightning this season, signed with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss-A national league Tuesday. Shannon signed a three-year contract with ZSC according to the team's website.
Shannon's signing with ZSC comes more than a month before NHL free agency opens on July 1. Shannon played 45 games for the Lightning this season, scoring four goals and dishing out eight assists. It was his sixth season in the NHL, Shannon started his career with Anaheim in 2006.
Shannon's best NHL season came in 2010 when he scored 11 goals and finished with 27 points in 79 games for the Ottawa Senators. He also played for the Vancouver Canucks. He saw limited ice time for the Lightning this past season after signing with Tampa Bay as an unrestricted free agent last off-season.
