Way Too Early 2013 Mock Draft

1. Oakland Raiders - Matt Barkley, QB, USC

via cbssports.com

With QBs Tyler Bray, Logan Thomas & Aaron Murray staying in college another season this is an easy pick for the Raiders to make. They can add to their USC QB collective, & Reggie Mac can really start molding this into his team.

2. Miami Dolphins - Robert Woods, WR, USC

Robert Woods is the perfect fit for the WCO that Miami will run, and his sure hands will make Ryan Tannehill a very happy man. Plus he doubles as a very good returner.

3. Cleveland Browns - Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU

Sammont_t653_medium

via photos.lasvegassun.com

Browns desperately need a pass rush option across from Sheard, and nab the BPA to fill that position. No Brainer here, that DL look sick.

4. Arizona Cardinals - Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas

Kolb is garbage, and although I like Skelton he may be better off as a back-up. Wilson is a guy I like, and I think he can develop into quite a QB. If he blows it up dealing with a bad Petrino situation and the loss of his WRs there's no doubt he'll be highly rated.

5. Indianapolis Colts - Star Lotulelei, DE/NT/DT, Utah

I like how the Colts put weapons around Luck in the 2012 draft, that sort of help will go a long way into turning him into the best QB he can be. But they only added one piece to a changing defense, a very solid NT and that won't be enough. Pagano knows the importance of an awesome DL coming from B-More, and Star can sit right next to Chapman and help in turning those defensive woes around.

6. Minnesota Vikings - Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue

Kawann-short_medium

With the top Wide out off the board they decide to continue rebuilding on that defense. With the Williams wall pretty much dead, and a division filled with good QBs Spielman takes the top pass rushing DT on the board. With Short pushing and disrupting the pocket, QBs will find themselves in the waiting hands of Jared Allen.

7. St. Louis Rams(F/Redskins) - Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

via isportsweb.com

Jason Smith will get injured again, its almost inevitable at this point. Rams will most likely drop him and target a new tackle to keep Bradford clean. Lewan may very well solidify himself as the top Tackle in this class and can compete for LT with Saffold.

8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Johnathan Hankins, DT/NT, OSU

Johnathan-hankins_medium

I like what the Buccs are doing but they will still be going through growing pains as one of the youngest teams in the league in a tough division. I think they give Freeman one last year to prove himself, so they go after the Buckeye to replace Price. On paper Clayborn-McCoy-Hankins-Bowers seems formidable.

9. Jacksonville Trades down w/Buffalo Bills - Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma

Landry-jones_medium

Another disappointing season from Fitzpatrick, and the Bills decide to trade up and nab their guy ahead of the rival Jets. Jones has the prototypical size and arm, but needs some more work. Gailey I think can help him in that regard.

10. NY Jets - Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB, Georgia

via media.ledger-enquirer.com

Finally they find their edge rusher and with a complete DL next to him Jones is going to be a beast.

11. Carolina Panthers - Kwame Geathers, DT/NT, Georgia

via ath-cdn.com

A massive prospect, he'll give that Panthers DL some size and more help on the interior. Rivera claims that he's set, but I don't really think so. Fua was pretty terrible.

12. St. Louis Rams - Da'Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee

If the Rams WR Coach loved Brian Quick, what will he think of Rogers? Plus with his character issues he'll fit right in with that Rams crew. Just kidding Tennessee/Rams fans. Bradford says thank you.

13. San Diego Chargers - David Amerson, CB, NC State

via media2.newsobserver.com

Jammer is getting older and may find himself demoted to safety as he loses his athletic ability, Amerson is a huge corner with incredible ball skills, should continue to add to a defense that is trending upwards.

14. New Orleans Saints - Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU

Breesy will stay in NO another season as I see him getting a definite franchise tag if a deal can't be worked out. So they look to continue to add to their DL, Smith is getting older and I don't see him getting paid 9 million in 2013. So the Saints nab the other highly rated LSU DE.

15. Jacksonville Jaguars F/Buffalo Bills - DJ Fluker, OT, Alabama

6_227703_medium

via media.247sports.com

Jacksonville builds for the future by getting more picks and takes the guy they wanted in the top 10 anyways. Fluker is a beast of a human being, and will take over right away at RT for the often injured Ebon Britton. Giving Gabbert an OL that he can count on and somone MJD can run behind.

16. Detroit Lions - Marcus Lattimore, RB, S. Car

Marcus-lattimore-south-carolina1_medium

via www.saturdaydownsouth.com

Lions are hoping here that they're RB woes will finally be over as they once again take the BPA, if their RBs can't stay healthy I could easily see them taking Lattimore. Lattimore is going to be one of those "shockers" on draft day that end up falling because of his previous injury history. In my belief he's even better than Richardson, and is a complete player to tote the rock.

17. Tennessee Titans - Barrett Jones, C/OG/OT, Alabama

6_226248_medium

via media.247sports.com

Maybe the Titans can finally find the interior help they've desperately needed? Probably the smartest player in the whole damn draft, he's been mister everything for the Bama offensive line and will be clearing holes for CJ2K to run through. I could easily see him start at either Center or Guard from day 1.

18. Dallas Cowboys - Sean Porter, DE/OLB, Texas A&M

Idaho-aggie-photographer-019-l_medium

via www.thomasgcampbell.com

I expect Porter to seriously contend with Jones as the top DE/OLB prospect, from what I've heard he's put on some serious muscle weight and could really take off this season. Spencer is on a Franchise tag for some reason, and is likely gone if he can't stay consistent.

19. Seattle Seahawks - Keenan Allen, WR, Cal

Keenan-allen_medium

via stanleyquan.com

Seahawks aren't a team with many glaring needs, however WR is one that you could say is. Sidney Rice can never stay healthy, Doug Baldwin is more of a slot player and Mike Williams/Golden Tate seem like busts.

20. Cincinnati Bengals - Alex Okafor, DE, Texas

628x471_medium

via ww1.hdnux.com

Barely missing out of the playoffs this year, the Bengals target one of their main needs at RE. Okafor is very good DE prospect, and should be able to hold down the RE spot for the Bengals.

21. Pittsburgh Steelers -Manti Te'o, MLB, Notre Dame

Scaled_php_medium

via desmond.imageshack.us

Steelers continue to do what they do best and grab the best ILB prospect in the draft in Te'O. Steelers were reportedly high on Hightower before DeCastro fell to them so I could see them snagging Te'O here. Right now I wouldn't say that Te'O is the best fit for the Steeler D, but given his size, athleticism & work ethic he's definitely somebody they could work with.

22. Kansas City Chiefs - Geno Smith, QB, WVU

West-virginia_medium

via couchfiresports.com

I love me some Geno Smith and I think the Chiefs will too. He's got a lot of solid NFL traits going for him even if he comes from the Air Raid system. Pocket presence/mobility, can progress through reads, looks off coverages, passion for the game, competitor with a never quit attitude, 4th quarter comebacks, shows up on the big stage, hard worker, leadership, can throw laser and a snap quick release. I think he's gonna be a baller in the NFL, and if the Chiefs find themselves in another early playoff exit they'll be looking for a new QB.(hopefully)

23. Philadelphia Eagles - Chris Faulk, OT, LSU

Urodhytrxtoatvj

via image.cdnllnwnl.xosnetwork.com

Peters is very injury prone, and the Achilles is killer for NFL players particularly big ones to come back from. Demetrius Bell is also injury prone, and if problems continue to persist then they could opt to find a new LT here.

24. Atlanta Falcons - Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

Ncaa-suspends-floridas-floyd-one-more-game-chc8r0g-x-large_medium

via i.usatoday.net

Peria Jerry never did turn into anything due to injuries, so the Falcons could target Floyd who happens to be BPA here to replace him.

25. Denver Broncos - Chance Warmack, G, Alabama

Warmack_medium

via dailybamablog.files.wordpress.com

Zane Beadles is just an awful, awful player. He'll look better with Peyton, but still there's only so much you can do before you definitely should upgrade. Warmack is a blue chip Guard prospect and will lock down LG and protect Manning while opening up holes for Hillman/McGahee.

26. Chicago Bears - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

11-201-0-nd-army-3_medium

via cdn.c.photoshelter.com

Now that Martz is gone the TE position will actually be used in Minnesota now. Eifert is tops at his position, and will go along nicely with Marshall & Jeffery as solid weapons for Cutler.

27. NY Giants - Eric Reid, FS, LSU

Aptopixlsualabamafootba_t607_medium

via media.naplesnews.com

Giants narrowly miss another SB berth, Reid should rate highly on their board as an athletic specimen to groom to replace Rolle who is much to expensive.

28. NE Patriots - Xavier Rhodes, CB/S, FSU

via cdn2-b.examiner.com

If McCourty continue to struggle and Ras-I doesn't show enough at CB and gets moved to Safety they could target the Rhodes here.

29. Houston Texans - Tony Jefferson, S, Oklahoma

Medium_medium

via 4.bp.blogspot.com

Texans look to upgrade the SS spot with this pick, Jefferson is a very good player who could vault his way up draft boards come 2013.

30. Green Bay Packers - Tyrann Mathieu, FS/CB/DB, LSU

Tyrann-mathieu-lsu-honey-badger-600x385_medium

via www.kaboommagazine.com

Changing this pick because I heard Mathieu will be declaring for 2013. Mathieu is an interesting case, and will need to go to a team that can tailor him into the Defense and allow him to be a playmaker and roam. What better Defense then Dom Capers' Packers? Mathieu reminds me exactly of Charles Woodson does for the Packers especially in 2010, he's not exactly the athlete that C-Wood was but he plays smart, has great instincts, is a sure tackler, makes plays, etc. Woodson isn't getting any younger, and Mathieu can very well be the heir apparent. Its not like he won't have value either learning the game till Woodson leaves because he's dynamic in the return game. Honey Badger could go earlier though if a team falls in love with him like the Buccaneers did for Barron, I feel late first is perfect for him right now.

31. SF 49ers - TJ McDonald, FS, USC

T_j_-macdonald_medium

via saturdaysinthefall.com

Goldson I think doesn't get re-signed and tests the waters of free agency. He's overrated anyways, and the 9ers nab the USC product to solidify their secondary

32. Baltimore Ravens - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

253748_jpg_medium

via media.247sports.com

Bryant McKinnie isn't getting any younger, and Oher is no LT. Ravens target the Joeckel here and hope that he can become the best thing they've had here since Ogden left.

Okay that is my draft, I just want to say that right away that no hate to any teams I put Top 10 its just somebody has to go there. Who knows what will happen next season, there's a reason its a Way Too Early 2013 Mock Draft. :D
