Orioles Agree To Terms With Miguel Tejada, Take Control Of AL East

In a stunning turn of events, the Baltimore Orioles made a deft move that is equal parts nostalgia and strategy. Just when you thought the Orioles' fast start was a fluke, they pull the rug out from under you. Britt Ghiroli:

The #Orioles have agreed to terms w. Miguel Tejada. He will report to Sarasota on Mon for a physical.

Tejada is exactly one month and one day older than Derek Jeter, who is hitting .404/.441/.587 for the season. But here's the catch: Tejada has 60 more home runs in his career when compared to Jeter. So it's pretty much a given that he's the more valuable player now.

The Orioles have some guy named J.J. Hardy at short, which sounds pretty made up, so Tejada's path to a starting job is pretty open. Tejada last played for the San Francisco Giants last year, where he lead the league in UZR and OPS*.
