The 2012 Kentucky Derby is nearly upon us and the country is getting swept up in Derby Fever. This highly infectious disease is only treatable via direct viewing of monstrous hoofed beasts charging, in an oval, headlong towards a finish line for up to two minutes. Once of the more notable people who has contracted this virus is Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, who loves the Derby so much that he would like to give some of his money away.
Irsay posted the following Twitter message on Saturday:
Derby Time! Pick Winner $300 and A Luck Jersey..Bonus extra $300 for picking Win,Place,Show,1 guess only by 4pm,Abby hatpick for Winner!
— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) May 5, 2012
In a nutshell -- if you're having difficulty reading this, like I did -- Irsay is offering a hefty $300 and an Andrew Luck Colts jersey (presumably a Colts jersey, anyway) for the person who tweets the winner of the race to him and will pony up (lol) another $300 for the person who can correctly pick the horses that win, place and show. The last item, "Abby hatpick for Winner!" which may seem like a spasm-induced series of typos, refers to Irsay's assistant, Abby Williams. She will put the winning picks in a hat and select the winner!
So go ahead and try to win Jim Irsay's money! Make work for Abby by having her print out your tweets and place them into a hat!
Wait a minute -- Irsay owns the Colts, he wants you to win money on the Derby -- I think this guy might really like horses, you guys.
