This year, though, he was off to a poor start, with a 7.30 ERA and NL-leading seven home runs allowed in five starts.
The Rockies were going to option him to Triple-A Colorado Springs to work through his troubles, but it turns out it was more than just a rough start. Troy Renck:

General manager Dan O'Dowd said Chacin needs to get healthy and iron out some confidence issues before beginning a rehab assignment.
The right-hander was originally optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday night, but that will be rescinded now that he's on the DL.
"We're still working through his issues and trying to get our arms around everything before we move forward," O'Dowd said.
