The Mets have no no-hitters in their history, but Johan Santana is attempting to change all that on Friday night at Citi Field.

The New York Mets have never had a no-hitter in their 50-plus season history; before Friday that comprised 8,019 games.

That streak might end Friday night at Citi Field in New York. Lefthander Johan Santana has completed seven no-hit innings, though with four walks, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

In the top of the seventh, Santana retired David Freese on a pop-up to first baseman Ike Davis.

Then, Yadier Molina ripped a sharp fly ball deep into left field. Mike Baxter ran back and made a terrific catch, but slammed into the wall while doing so and appeared to injure his wrist, or possibly his shoulder, and left the game.

Andres Torres came into the game to play center field, and Kirk Niewenhuis moved from center to left.

The next hitter was Matt Adams, and he ran the count to 3-0 before grounding out to first baseman Davis, keeping the no-hitter intact.
