The Stony Brook Seawolves surprised a few people in the 2012 NCAA Super Regional in Baton Rouge, La. It's not just because of their mascot, but because they were able to knock out LSU and make their way to the 2012 College World Series. While most would consider the Seawolves overmatched in the tournament, the team certainly doesn't think that way.
"We played in front of 11,000 people in Baton Rouge, all people who were rooting against us and screaming at us and stuff like that. I think every once in a while you're going to have a bad game, and that's what happened today," Stony Brook starting pitcher Tyler Johnson said after their loss to UCLA. "We're a very good ballclub and we're here for a reason. But like I said, it didn't go our way today. That's going to happen. It's baseball. We'll get back after it on Sunday."
"I just wasn't on today," said Johnson. "When I needed to make a pitch, I didn't today."
Stony Brook (52-14) will take on Florida State (48-16) in an elimination game on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET (TV: ESPN2).
