There are so many pitchers who have either been on the DL, or are headed there, that I've lost count.
The Tampa Bay Rays will place starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right shoulder fatigue.
Right-handed pitcher Chris Archer will be officially added to the roster from Triple-A Durham. He will make Hellickson's scheduled start on Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals, which will be Archer's major league debut.
"I felt a little weak the last two starts," Hellickson said. "We felt like this is the right thing to do."
Hellickson further said he doesn't expect to miss more than a couple of starts. Archer was the centerpiece of a trade that sent Matt Garza from the Cubs to the Rays for four prospects; he's made 14 starts for Durham with a 4.81 ERA and 1.435 WHIP, less than overwhelming numbers.
