Purdue Vs. Kent State, 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament: Kent State Wins 7-3

A day after outlasting Kentucky in 21 innings, the Kent State Flashes advanced to the Regional final by beating Purdue 7-3 on Saturday.

Kent State starting pitcher Ryan Bores threw a complete game against the Boilermakers, which the Flashes bullpen a much needed day off after they combined to pitch 15 innings Friday against Kentucky. Jimmy Rider and George Roberts led the offensive attack for Kent State; each finished with three runs batted in. The Flashes advance to the Regional final where they will face the winner of the elimination game between Kentucky and Purdue.

The Boiler Makers, who beat Valparaiso Friday, will now face Kentucky in an elimination game Sunday. Purdue starting pitcher Lance Breedlove was charged with six of Kent States seven runs. Breedlove was unable to get out of the second inning, giving up seven hits and six runs in 1.2 innings.

The winner of tomorrow's Kentucky vs. Purdue game will then play Kent State Sunday night. If Kent State wins, they will advance to the College World Series. If the Flashes lose, a final game will be played Monday.
