Almost eight years ago, Australian left-hander Travis Blackley made his major-league debut. He didn't pitch all that well, but he lasted long enough and his team (the Mariners) scored enough runs that he got the win.

Blackley didn't win again in the majors until last Friday, when he pitched six decent innings to beat the Padres.

Thursday afternoon he didn't win. He did hold the Dodgers to one run in eight innings, in what's easily the highlight of his long, injury-plagued career.
