The Washington Capitals have traded Cody Eakin and the No. 54 overall pick to the Dallas Stars for center Mike Ribeiro.

On Friday night, the Washington Capitals traded Cody Eakin and the No. 54 overall selection in the 2012 NHL Draft to the Dallas Stars for center Mike Ribeiro.

Ribeiro has been rumored as a possible piece to move dating back to last Feb. prior to the trade deadline. As part of a Stars organization that is looking to develop a young core, the veteran Ribeiro was an attractive piece in talks with other teams.

By acquiring Eakin, the Stars pick up a young piece who is still coming into his own as well as a second round pick that can help the team add more young talent.
