The South Carolina Gamecocks and Arizona Wildcats will meet in the 2012 College World Series championship series beginning Monday. South Carolina is attempting to win their third straight national championship.
Arizona is 3-0 in College World Series play, outscoring their opponents 18-6. They knocked off Florida State in their first game before shutting out Pac-12 foe UCLA 4-0 in their second game. The Wildcats advanced to the championship series with another win against Florida State.
South Carolina overcame an early loss in the College World Series to advance to the championship series. They knocked off Florida in their first game, but then lost 2-1 to Arkansas. The Gamecocks beat Kent State in an elimination game to set up a rematch with Arkansas. South Carolina won the first game 2-0, then eliminated the Razorbacks with a 3-2 win Friday night.
The championship series begins Sunday with the first Game 1 set for 8 p.m. ET with television coverage on ESPN2.
