Pacquiao Vs. Bradley: Tim Bradley Thinks He Can Beat Manny 'No Problem'

Stay connected with SB Nation

Timothy Bradley is not lacking for confidence heading into his June 9 HBO PPV bout against boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao. Maybe that confidence is because the undefeated world champion has yet to "learn to lose" or maybe it's that he sees something in Pacquiao's game that he feels he can exploit.

From what he told reporters about the fight, it sounds like he's looking at Manny's last bout against Juan Manuel Marquez, and trying to take lessons from what Marquez did well and apply them to this fight.

Via The Ring:

"All that he did was counter-punch. When Manny stepped in, he just stepped back and counter-punched the hell out of him, and he's going to freeze up? So I was like, 'alright, that's all I have to do? I can do that.'"

"I'm a lot quicker than Marquez, and I'm a lot younger. I'm going to throw punches. I'm not going to just let this guy bombard me with all of these shots and punches," said Bradley. "And I'm not going to be there to be hit the majority of the time, because I'm elusive. So I'm like, 'I can beat this guy, no problem.'"

Bradley certainly isn't lacking in the areas that would allow him to play that game. Manny may have a speed advantage, but Bradley can be reasonably elusive if he wants to shift away from trying to just get inside and outwork his foe.

Bradley's biggest asset is going to be his ability to make mid-fight gameplan changes. He is one of the very best in the world at figuring out the puzzle of a fight after a few rounds and adjusting accordingly. He can't afford to go in and take it easy in the first two rounds and let Manny get out to a lead, but he also can't be so set on fighting any specific way that he can't make the necessary adjustments as the fight develops.
