I say "the Mariners" instead of naming an individual pitcher because this has been a combined effort. Kevin Millwood worked the first six innings, but while he was warming up for the seventh, he felt something and was removed after 68 pitches. He was relieved by Charlie Furbush, who retired two batters and committed an error. Stephen Pryor then struck out Juan Rivera to end the seventh.
Millwood had thrown a no-hitter before in his career, in 2003. He threw a two-hit shutout in Colorado against the Rockies this past May.
One should note that the Mariners have yet to score a run. So while the Dodgers are hitless, they're very much in this game, on effectively equal ground. One should also note that the Mariners' triple-A affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers, just took a no-hitter into the eighth before it was broken up. The Rainiers also have yet to score.
