LSU and Stony Brook will resume their Friday night matchup, with the game tied at 4-4 in the top of the 12th inning.
The Baton Rouge NCAA Super Regional began Friday evening with a matchup between LSU and Stony Brook, but the game wound up being suspended for rain after a two-hour, 34-minute delay -- and after 11 innings of back-and-forth baseball. The game will resume Saturday morning in progress, with the game tied 4-4.
The Seawolves took an early lead on Fridat night with a two-run home run in the second inning that they held until late in the game. LSU cut into the lead when Raph Rhymes scored on a Ty Ross single. In the bottom of the ninth inning, JaCoby Jones hit a solo shot for LSU to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
Stony Brook would take the lead in the top of the next two innings, but LSU was able to hit a solo shot three innings in a row to tie the game. As the game moved to the top of the 12th inning, rain began to come down. After a long delay the game was suspended.
