The Manning Passing Academy has hosted some of college football's elite quarterbacks over the past few seasons, and this summer's version of the camp didn't stray from that theme.
Matt Barkley, Tyler Bray, Tyler Wilson and Geno Smith were among those invited, and some interesting notes came out of the camp. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com was in attendance and had some interesting notes to provide.
After the jump, check out a rundown of what Jeremiah had to say about the 2012 Passing Academy participants.
Matt Barkley is the current top quarterback on most boards, but his arm strength has been called into question by some analysts. Jeremiah reported that his arm strength was much improved, as the Trojan quarterback had no trouble on deep comeback routes. Barkley will be nitpicked all season long, so the fact that he is still improving is a great sign.
Jeremiah also noted that Tyler Wilson and Matt Barkley are about the same size, but Barkley has a much thicker build. Considering some have expressed concern over Barkley's height, it's interesting to note that Wilson, who is listed at 6-feet-3-inches tall most places, is the same height as Barkley. Jeremiah also said that Wilson's deep accuracy needs a bit of work.
Tyler Bray also impressed at the workout, looking smooth in his drop-backs, generating plenty of velocity with a smooth and easy throwing motion. Bray is one of my favorite prospects for the 2013 draft, but Jeremiah compared his personality to that of Matt Leinart, which is not a great sign. Though Jeremiah noted Bray is a far superior passer.
Plenty of interesting tidbits in Jeremiah's article, so make sure to check it out in anyone of the five links I dropped into this piece. Good to get the discussion on 2013 quarterbacks going. This has the makings of a very strong class.
What are your impressions of the class thus far?
