Rangers' TV Announcer Likely Out For Season

One of the most bizarre and unsettling injuries of the baseball season didn't happen to a player on the field, but rather to an announcer in the booth. In the eighth inning of a Rangers/Padres game, Texas Rangers announcer Dave Barnett started talking about fifth base, botched robberies, and henchmen. He took some time off and had all sorts of tests run.

The official diagnosis is that the episode was related to a problem with severe migranes, and Barnett released a statement through the Rangers:

I want to thank everyone for your kind sentiments and words of encouragement over the last couple of weeks. It has meant a lot to me during what has been a very difficult time. Effective immediately, for health reasons I will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from my broadcasting duties that I expect to last for the remainder of the season.

I would ask that you please respect the privacy of me and my family during this time.

Thank you once again for your support.

You can watch the video here if you haven't seen or heard it. It's ... completely unsettling and creepy. Hopefully, Barnett will rejoin the Rangers as soon as he's physically capable.
