Mets Demote Lucas Duda To Triple-A

An outfielder the Mets had hoped would become a productive regular is now being sent back to the minor leagues.

Outfielder Lucas Duda hit .292/.370/.482 (138 OPS+) for the New York Mets in a little more than half a season for the team in 2011. They hoped he'd build on that and have a solid 2012 and become their everyday right fielder.

It didn't work out. Duda is hitting just .241/.335/.391 this season and is 6-for-43 in July. The Mets decided they had to make a move, and here it is:

The corresponding roster move, according to Klapisch:

"Harvey" is Matt Harvey, the Mets' No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft; Harvey has been pitching well at Triple-A Buffalo (3.68 ERA, 1.318 WHIP in 20 starts) and is scheduled to make his major-league debut starting against the Diamondbacks Thursday in Phoenix.
