Mexico has named an 18-man squad for their friendly match against the United States at Estadio Azteca.
The English Premier League season starts less than a week after the friendly match between the United States and Mexico at Estadio Azteca, but that hasn't stopped El Tri manager 'Chepo' Jose Manuel de la Torre from choosing 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez in his squad. Mexico's most popular player will play against Mexico's biggest rival at Azteca for the first time on August 15. He's one of 18 players named to Mexico's squad for the friendly.
Missing from the team are Carlos Salcido, Oribe Peralta and Giovani dos Santos, who are at the Olympics, as well as the under-23 players that might have replaced them. Here's Mexico's entire squad.
Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa, Alfredo Talavera
Defenders: 'Maza' Fransisco Javier Rodriguez, Hector Moreno, Severo Meza, Hugo Ayala, Jorge Torres Nilo, Enrique Perez, Adrian Aldrete
Midfielders: Jesus Zavala, Manuel Viniegra, Edgar Lugo, Pablo Barrera, Andres Guardado, Angel Reyna, Elias Hernandez
Forwards: 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez, Aldo de Nigris
The United States' squad is expected to be named over the weekend, and it's also likely to feature players from Premier League clubs, most notably Clint Dempsey.
