The United States women's basketball team won their fifth-straight Olympic gold medal Saturday with a 86-50 win against France.
Team USA got off to a bit of a slower start than they may have liked, leading by just 12 points at halftime. They came out much stronger in the second half, extending their lead to 26 after the third quarter. It was the United States' 41st consecutive win in Olympic play.
Candace Parker led the way for the United States with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sue Bird was a big part of the United States' second-half surge as she finished with 11 points and two assists. Team USA's defense was especially strong, holding France to just 28.1 percent shooting.
France takes home the silver medal, the country's first ever Olympic medal in the sport. Sandrine Gruda and Edwige Lawson-Wade led the way for France, each scoring 12 points.
